5 Minute Oscillations of the Suna sound installation by caroline devine

Daily, noon-9pm Dome, Theatre District, Milton Keynes 21 June – 29 July 2012. Free

Listening Event – 8pm, 27 June

5 Minute Oscillations of the Sun is an outdoor multi-channel sound installation that explores naturally occurring radio signals and the acoustic and electromagnetic energy of the sun.

Sited within a dome in Milton Keynes Theatre District, the acoustic attributes of the space allow the dome to be used as a form of “meta-instrument”. The dome acts as a giant sounding box and further focuses and amplifies a multi-channel composition that is diffused through a network of speakers towards its roof.

The installation alternates between two “listening modes” – one acoustic, the other electromagnetic.

5 Minute Oscillations of the Sun is supported by Arts Council England and Milton Keynes Gallery.
